Ripple is directing its new $700 million RLUSD stablecoin to Africa, initiating innovative insurance pilots aimed at providing climate relief. The initiative, in partnership with Mercy Corps Ventures, will leverage the stablecoin for drought and extreme weather insurance in Kenya. These programs will use data-driven triggers, such as satellite-detected drought conditions, to automatically disburse RLUSD funds to affected communities, particularly pastoralists.
