Plume Network, a modular Layer 2 blockchain focused on real-world assets (RWAs), has achieved a significant milestone by registering as a transfer agent with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
This registration is a critical piece of infrastructure for a compliant on-chain capital market. As a transfer agent, Plume can now manage shareholder records, trades, and dividends for tokenized securities directly on its blockchain, with reporting capabilities that link to the SEC and the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC).
Plume aims to bring the multi-trillion dollar U.S. securities market on-chain by providing the necessary rails for issuers and asset managers. The platform has already onboarded over 200,000 RWA holders and more than $62 million in tokenized assets through its integration with NestCredit.
This development signals a growing trend of convergence between the DeFi and traditional finance (TradFi) sectors, where regulatory compliance is paramount. Plume is also pursuing additional licenses, including Alternative Trading System (ATS) and broker-dealer registrations, to further build out its on-chain capital markets infrastructure.
