Ripple has completed its acquisition of prime brokerage firm Hidden Road in a deal valued at $1.25 billion, one of the largest in the digital asset sector. The acquired company has been rebranded as Ripple Prime and will operate as a global, multi-asset prime broker aimed at institutional customers.
This strategic move positions Ripple as the first crypto-native company to own and operate a regulated prime brokerage, bridging the gap between traditional financial services and the digital asset ecosystem. The acquisition is intended to bring the promise of digital assets to institutional clients at scale.
Furthermore, Ripple plans to leverage the new capabilities to enhance its existing cross-border payments solution, Ripple Payments, by optimizing costs and liquidity. Ripple Prime will also provide bank-grade digital asset custody services to Hidden Road’s existing customer base, creating a more comprehensive offering for institutional players entering the crypto market.
