Quick Take
  • Paxos is buying Fordefi for over $100M, adding institutional MPC wallets and DeFi access to its stablecoin infrastructure.
  • The deal parallels Circle–CYBAVO and supports upselling to partners like PayPal/Mastercard while expanding Paxos’s Israel R&D.
  • Signals consolidation of wallet infra and tighter bundling of stablecoins, custody, and compliance for institutional adoption.

Paxos, the world’s leading regulated blockchain infrastructure platform, announced today that it has acquired Fordefi, the institutional-grade multi-party computation (MPC) wallet and custody technology provider trusted by nearly 300 global institutions.

The deal unites Paxos’ decade of experience in regulated qualified custody and stablecoin issuance with Fordefi’s cutting-edge MPC wallet architecture, sophisticated policy engine, and native decentralized finance (DeFi) connectivity. The combined platform is designed to become the single, trusted infrastructure layer that enterprises rely on to issue stablecoins, tokenize real-world assets, and execute complex on-chain payment flows while meeting the highest security and compliance standards.

Charles Cascarilla, CEO and Co-Founder of Paxos, stated: “We’ve built Paxos as a neutral, enterprise-grade platform that ushers the world’s leading enterprises into the digital asset economy. Fordefi has built an impressive stack and customer base founded on easy-to-use APIs and seamless web3 connectivity. Together, Paxos and Fordefi provide customers with a world-class custody solution built upon advanced wallet technology and regulated, qualified custody.”

The acquisition comes as institutional adoption of digital assets accelerates rapidly. Trillions of dollars in value are moving on-chain, yet many institutions still face fragmented custody solutions that lack both regulatory oversight and sophisticated DeFi tooling. By integrating Fordefi’s technology, Paxos aims to eliminate that fragmentation and offer a unified platform that spans centralized finance (CeFi) and decentralized finance (DeFi) workflows.

Fordefi, founded in 2021 and headquartered in New York with offices in Tel Aviv, was the first MPC wallet purpose-built for the unique security and policy challenges of institutional DeFi. Its platform currently safeguards over $120 billion in monthly transaction volume for hedge funds, market makers, trading firms, and other sophisticated players.
