KAST has rolled out direct support for SPEI, Mexico's national interbank electronic payment system, allowing users to seamlessly send and receive Mexican pesos (MXN) while holding US dollars (USD) in their accounts.
The new feature enables instant deposits and withdrawals via SPEI directly within the KAST app, bridging local peso transactions with dollar-denominated stablecoin holdings. Users can now deposit pesos from any Mexican bank, have them automatically converted to USD in real time, hold dollars securely, and withdraw pesos to any bank account across the country.
What is SPEI and How It Works with KAST
SPEI, or Sistema de Pagos Electrónicos Interbancarios, is the official real-time interbank transfer network operated by Banco de México. It processes millions of transactions daily, offering near-instant transfers using a CLABE number or bank details. Major banks like BBVA, Banorte, Santander, and Nu fully support it.
With KAST's integration:
- Deposits: Users receive a unique CLABE in the app to transfer pesos from their Mexican bank. Funds are instantly converted to USD and credited to their KAST dollar account.
- Withdrawals: Users can send pesos from their dollar holdings to any Mexican bank account via SPEI, with automatic conversion and clear fee display.
This creates a fluid peso-to-dollar loop: earn or receive salary in pesos, convert instantly to dollars for stability, and cash out in pesos as needed.
