Anchorage Digital, the first federally chartered crypto bank in the U.S., unveiled U.S.-compliant stablecoin rails for international banks, enabling native mint/redeem and 24/7 cross‑border settlement using regulated tokens issued via Anchorage Digital Bank (including Tether’s USA₮, Ethena Labs’ USDtb, OSL’s USDGO, with Western Union’s USDPT to follow).
The platform, operated through Anchorage Digital Bank, N.A., allows participating institutions to manage both stablecoin and fiat wallets via a single federally regulated counterparty. This enables near-instant USD transfers across supported blockchain networks, while also supporting traditional third-party wire transfers to domestic and international destinations. Banks can further benefit from options to protect against network fees, ensuring principal value preservation.
By shifting away from conventional correspondent banking models that rely on pre-funded accounts, the solution promises to minimize trapped liquidity and slash settlement times from days to minutes. This, Anchorage says, enhances capital efficiency and mitigates counterparty and settlement risks.
As a federally chartered trust bank under the supervision of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), Anchorage Digital Bank offers a unified regulatory framework, bypassing the complexities of state-by-state licensing. Client assets are stored in segregated, bankruptcy-remote accounts, safeguarding them from becoming part of any custodian's estate in the event of insolvency. The bank's vaults employ policy-based controls tailored for institutional risk management, building on Anchorage's eight-year track record of securing tens of billions in digital assets across various blockchains.
The platform is designed to be stablecoin-agnostic, supporting major USD stablecoins on leading chains. It provides primary mint and redeem capabilities for stablecoins issued by Anchorage Digital Bank, including Tether’s USA₮, Ethena Labs’ USDtb, OSL’s USDGO, and forthcoming ones like Western Union’s USDPT. Institutions can also custody or transfer other compatible stablecoins through an integrated interface.
