Tether has expanded its offerings by launching its USDT0 and XAUt0 stablecoins on the Polygon network. This integration is facilitated by LayerZero's Omnichain Fungible Token (OFT) standard, which allows for seamless cross-chain transfers and enhanced liquidity.
The launch marks a significant step for both stablecoins. USDT0 is now available on 12 networks, while XAUt0, a gold-backed stablecoin, is launching on its second network after its initial debut on The Open Network (TON).
This development is part of a broader industry trend where major stablecoin issuers are adopting LayerZero's OFT standard to address the challenges of fragmented liquidity across different blockchain ecosystems. By enabling native cross-chain issuance, the OFT standard helps to create a more unified and efficient market for stablecoins.
