Ondo Finance has launched Ondo Global Markets, a new platform providing non-U.S. investors access to over 100 tokenized U.S. stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) on the Ethereum network. This initiative marks a significant step in the tokenization of real-world assets, aiming to address longstanding barriers for global investors, such as high fees and fragmented market access.
The platform is designed to solve the structural issues that have historically plagued onchain equities, including illiquidity and price dislocations. It offers 24/7 peer-to-peer transferability, instant minting and redemption during U.S. market hours (24/5), and compatibility with decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols. This functionality provides a crucial bridge between the liquidity of traditional exchanges and the accessibility of blockchain technology.
To ensure transparency and security, the tokenized assets are fully backed by securities held at U.S.-registered broker-dealers, with daily verification performed by a third-party agent. The launch is supported by a coalition of prominent crypto platforms and applications, including Bitget Wallet, Trust Wallet, OKX Wallet, and Chainlink, indicating broad ecosystem support.
This launch signals a maturation of onchain asset infrastructure. Ondo Finance plans to expand Global Markets to additional blockchains, including Solana, BNB Chain, and its native Ondo Chain, to further broaden global access to U.S. financial markets.
