Leveraging Stripe's global payments experience, the new network aims to provide optimized infrastructure as stablecoins become mainstream.
September 4, 2025
Payments giant Stripe is partnering with crypto venture capital firm Paradigm to launch Tempo, a new layer-1 blockchain designed for payments.
The network is purpose-built for stablecoins and real-world payment applications. The collaboration combines Stripe's extensive experience in global payments infrastructure with Paradigm's expertise in the crypto ecosystem.
The project aims to address the need for optimized blockchain infrastructure as stablecoins gain mainstream adoption for transactions beyond the crypto-native world. According to a job posting that revealed the project, Tempo will be compatible with Ethereum's Solidity toolchains, allowing developers to use familiar tools.
This move marks a significant expansion of Stripe's crypto strategy, signaling a deeper commitment to building foundational infrastructure for the next wave of digital payments.
