BlackRock's USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund (BUIDL) has become the first tokenized Treasury fund to pay out $100 million in lifetime dividends. This milestone, announced by tokenization platform Securitize, highlights the rapid maturation of real-world assets (RWAs) on public blockchains.
Launched in March 2024, BUIDL is a tokenized money market fund that provides institutional investors with on-chain exposure to U.S. Treasury yields. Built on the Ethereum blockchain and expanded to multichain operations, the fund allows for programmable cash flows, real-time settlements, and transparent dividend distributions. Securitize, the world's largest tokenization platform backed by BlackRock and Morgan Stanley, handles the issuance and management of BUIDL tokens.
The $100 million in dividends paid out represents actual yields from underlying Treasury holdings, distributed directly to token holders on-chain. This achievement not only marks a record for tokenized Treasuries but also demonstrates the scalability of blockchain-based financial products for institutional use.
