Flutterwave, a leading African payments technology company, has announced a partnership with Turnkey to introduce embedded stablecoin wallets for its merchants across Africa. The collaboration aims to facilitate faster, low-cost cross-border payments using USDC and USDT.

The integration will allow Flutterwave customers to hold USDC and USDT balances alongside traditional currencies like USD and Nigerian naira. The company is currently testing the solution with a select group of merchants before making it available to all users who complete KYC requirements.

"To accelerate business growth in Africa, we must make it safe, easy, and affordable for businesses to accept all forms of regulated payment methods, including stablecoin, from a global customer base,"

said Nkem Abuah, who leads remittances and stablecoin partnerships at Flutterwave.

The move positions stablecoins as a tool for reducing costs and speeding up cross-border transactions—a persistent pain point for businesses operating across African markets and internationally.

Turnkey, which was recently named one of CNBC's 2025 World's Top Fintech Companies, provides the embedded wallet infrastructure powering the integration. The company counts Polymarket, Alchemy, and World among its clients.

For Flutterwave, the launch represents a broader strategic bet on stablecoins as critical infrastructure for Africa's financial future, particularly for enabling faster and cheaper cross-border payments across the continent.
