Blockchain giant Ripple has secured full approval for its Electronic Money Institution (EMI) license from Luxembourg's financial regulator, the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF), marking a significant step in its European growth strategy.
The approval, announced today, builds on a preliminary nod granted last month and comes after Ripple met all necessary conditions set by the CSSF. This license positions Ripple as a fully authorized EMI within the European Union, enabling it to offer enhanced payment services and blockchain solutions to businesses across the bloc.
"Securing our full EMI license in the EU is a transformative milestone that reinforces Ripple’s presence at the heart of European finance," said Cassie Craddock, Managing Director for UK & Europe at Ripple. "Europe has always been a strategic priority for us, and this authorization allows us to scale our mission of providing robust, compliant blockchain infrastructure to clients across the EU. We are now better positioned than ever to help European businesses transition into a more efficient, digital-first financial era."
Ripple, known for its enterprise-grade blockchain solutions bridging traditional and digital finance, views the EU market as key to its global ambitions. The new license is expected to accelerate the rollout of Ripple Payments, a service designed to streamline cross-border transactions using digital assets.
This development arrives amid a surge in Ripple's regulatory achievements. Just last month, the company obtained an EMI license and Cryptoasset Registration from the UK's Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), further solidifying its foothold in major financial hubs.
