VersaBank (TSX/NASDAQ: VBNK) signed a definitive agreement to custody Stablecorp’s QCAD, designating it as the bank’s first stablecoin customer and creating dual revenue lines: an assets-under-custody fee and a net interest spread on QCAD-related deposits.
The bank will provide reserve custody using its VersaVault digital asset infrastructure, supporting QCAD, which was recognized in November 2025 as Canada’s first compliant CAD stablecoin. For VersaBank, stablecoin custody is a low-capital, high-operating-leverage service that can expand net interest income while complementing its broader digital-asset roadmap, including Real Bank Deposit Tokens. For Stablecorp and the QCAD Digital Trust, bank-grade reserve custody strengthens transparency and counterparty assurance—critical as CAD stablecoin rails seek institutional adoption, exchange integrations, and broader payments use cases.
This agreement reflects a shift toward regulated, bank-anchored stablecoin models that align issuer economics with traditional custody and deposit frameworks.
