New open-source standard, backed by Visa, Circle, and Solana, aims to solve payment security for the growing AI agent ecosystem.
February 13, 2026

Lobster.cash has been announced as a new open-source payment standard designed specifically for OpenClaw AI agents. The initiative aims to address a critical security gap where agents handle sensitive payment information, such as card numbers and CVCs, in plaintext, exposing them to potential theft and misuse through prompt injection attacks.
Powered by Crossmint, Visa, Solana, Circle, and Stytch, ClawPay functions as an OpenClaw plugin that separates the agent from direct access to credentials. Under the new system, humans set spending permissions and approve transactions, while agents can only request the necessary payment actions when needed. This provides programmable guardrails for both card and stablecoin payments.
The announcement highlights that over one million OpenClaw agents have been deployed, signaling a need for a dedicated payment infrastructure. As part of the rollout, agents using ClawPay will be enrolled in Visa's Trusted Agent Protocol. This provides a verifiable identity layer and a trusted status within the payment ecosystem.
A trial version of the experience is currently available, with a full production launch planned for the coming weeks. The project is actively inviting developers with agents or payment-related use cases to join its community for early access and testing.
